In 2019, India is the second-highest number of internet users after China. There are 451Million active internet users in India. Is it good? Is our cyber systems are safe?
First, Do you care about your data?
Keep it this in your mind. INTERNET, not a safe one. Your systems are always accessible by someone, someone collecting your data with and without your permission, you are providing your public and private data to that someone.
Maybe you think your data are not useful to others but that's not permanent. Definitely, that data will link with your payment or social account connections in the future. So use some time to read this post and allocate extra time to protect your information.
1. Social media
If some stranger asks your basic info in your real-life means, you surely deny it. But in social media, you entered your DOB, birth city, living city coordinates, education info, Nicknames, current status, your neighbor house address and 150 words about yourself. ok, That's really mandatory in this society and that's your wish. But there is an essential setting in all social media. That's called Privacy. You can able to hide your details to the members who have not connected you as a friend, follower...(Based on social media).
Do login your social media and check the friend's list and check out how many of them you don't know really. Most of the requests are we accept based on the mutual connection. Mutual connections are not the secured one so accept the requests only if you know that person. And check your friend lists, if there anybody you don't know means just removes them. Because if you think social media is only for sharing your photos, getting likes means then you have to learn more about that. Now just consider your social media account as your living room, Do allow only your friends and well-known persons. Because once your data has leaked it will not erasable.
2. Avoid Spams
Inevitable in these days, It will infect your mail, SMS, doorstep, etc... How to control that?
Organize your emails. It will show the unwanted email lists or subscription. So that's easy to unsubscribe the unwanted emails. Use dummy emails for subscription or registration in some marketing websites, shopping sites. Don't provide your primary email for all registrations that will make your inbox as Junk Bin. The same process you have to follow for your mobile number. It's riskier than email.
3. Use phone like PC or Laptops
Mobile phones are like laptops, Nowadays most of them knew about the task manager process in Computer System. Like that you have to monitor your mobile phones. There are a lot of tools available in play store to monitoring the background process, of mobile phones, pick the right one. Because in the same play store there are a lot of apps available to access your camera and media storage. Now that type of tool working even offline, once your mobile connected to the internet It will share the details to the third eye. So try to understand your smartphone activities. Symptoms like battery draining, screen flickerings, heating issues, if you experience these types of issues check the background services. If you feel anything unwanted suspicious stop that or uninstall that. If any apps on your phone that you did not open for the past 2 months that's definitely not useful or needed one. So you can uninstall that immediately. Fewer Apps, More space and time.
4.Manage Storage Devices
Deleting a file fro your computer system or phone is not called the destruction of the file. That's still there. So use some shredding tools to delete files. If you want to sale your drives or disks, deletion is not enough, erase the disks with some erasing tools.
5.Use Browser Carefully
Browser is the gateway to all. So use browsers carefully. Check the secure connections of websites and try to check is it a phishing page or a real page.
Using an Incognito or Private window is the best approach to suspend your activity when you forgot to sign out. It will clear the session immediately after you close the browser.
